Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale (born on April 2, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is part of the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She played for Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the college level before being selected as the fifth pick overall by the Wings during the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale's father and mother Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale were born March 2nd, 1997 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There are two brothers: Mario (26 and 26 years old) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). She was the eldest child in her family and her parents spoilt her the best. Gregory's father was a member of the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale has a thriving family history. Her mother Yolanda played softball at DePaul while her brother Dare was once football player. The cousin Endia Olive also plays volleyball on the field at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale is named to the honor roll of her school for three consecutive years. In addition, she was recognized for her accomplishments in high school and received numerous awards. Arike earned her degree from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is in Arike's hometown. She played three varsity season during her time at school. Ogunbowale's extraordinary skills and abilities, led her team to astonishing wins multiple times. Her high school experience included 73 games, 1,477 career points, and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale won gold medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2013 FIBA U17 World Championship, and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. In July 2014 she was picked to join the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team following her first year of collegiate basketball. The coach even thanked the legendary Kobe Bryant after she hit various big shots in the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale, who is relatively new to the game of basketball, has already become a major star.
